Randy and Cindi are actively involved in the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices through their work with the Team Agriculture Georgia project. This project has a mission to deliver programs to the underserved, beginning, and limited resource farmers in Georgia. Randy has given presentations on opportunities for small farms in the area of medicinal plant production and grant opportunities for small farmers. Randy is a former member of the Georgia Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Professional Development Program Advisory Council and the USDA’s Small and Beginning Farmer and Rancher Program review panel.
In summary, Randy developed a production system (patented) and taught it to other farmers, who became involved in providing research grade Goldenseal to laboratories, scientists, and directly to consumers. This led to the formation of a cohesive group of small family farmers who pool their production, then cooperatively process and market their products under the common brand name, BotaniPharm.
